Year 7 Community Day

Having fun and working together

The Year 7 Community Day gave 鶹TVƵƽ newest cohort the opportunity to build on their teamwork and leadership skills while meeting new people.

Held on 20 March at the Padua Campus, Community Day included a range of presentations and activities that focused on the theme of ‘Working Together’.

Year 7 students Juan and Lillian wrote the following reflection about the day:

Community Day was an amazing experience filled with engaging and meaningful lessons and activities all focusing on the theme of Working Together. Project Rockit looked at bullying, how we can help stop bullying and provide support for others. Next Top Model allowed us to be creative in a team and design an outfit made out of newspaper. The Mental Health Challenge helped us gain the perspectives of those who struggle and the Physical Challenge looked at our communication skills and how we can be gracious when we win and lose.

Community Day encouraged us to work together as a team by listening and including everyone, to continue to be kind and cooperative, and to allow everyone a moment to shine and take initiative. The day motivated us to become great leaders and was the best way to start the year! We had a blast!

Acknowledgement of Country

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”

With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
